Hoppy Easter 2011

We had so much fun coloring Easter eggs after the egg hunt on Saturday. The kids left the Easter bunny carrots and cards. In return, the Easter bunny left them a note thanking them for the yummy treat.

We had Easter brunch with the Grothaus side of the family. We took lots of great family pics and had fun hunting for eggs. Thank goodness the rain disappeared for a good part of the day and allowed us to spend Easter outside. I love all holidays because they are the only time I get to see alot of the extended Grothaus family.

We ate Easter dinner with the Ossege Family, had a second egg hunt, and tried to squeeze in some fun before the rain returned.

All three kids were wiped out after such a great Easter! The weekend went by too fast and a week full of rain is the last thing we need. Hopefully, next weekend will bring some sunshine!  

40 Days and 40 Nights

Didn't the bible say it rained for 40 days and 40 nights??? I keep wondering if we should start building an ark. Besides creating a small river in my basement, the rain has already put a damper on soccer season. Lexus still has yet to play a single soccer game and makeup games for both girls are running into June.

 Kimberly had dance pics taken last weekend, her costume is suppose to represent a bride. One of their dance recital songs is "Going to the chapel" and there is a boy in her class who is wearing a cute little tux. Kimberly is excited because she is one of two girls who link arms with the boy and walk across the stage.

 Last night, Austin was literally on cloud 9 after he found out he was going in the woods with Daddy and Uncle Matt to setup hunting stands and turkey blinds. He had to dress just like Daddy in all camo and have his own backpack filled with snacks and toys. He LOVED walking in the woods, seeing 3 deer and some turkeys with the BIG boys and getting all dirty.

 We took a chance and went to the Egg Hunt at the Fort today. I am so glad we did. The kids had fun and the rain held off till the very end.

Kimberly and I had a Mommy & Me night seeing "Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse" by Playhouse in the Park. It was based off the Kevin Henkes books "Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse" and "Julius". Besides being a super cute play, the tickets only cost $7 a piece...BARGAIN!

 The first graders are working on their service learning project selling reusable bags and promoting the three R's at school. Here is a poster Kimberly made with 2 classmates to hang in the cafeteria at school. The girls have both set personal goals for themselves for AR this year. Kimberly wants to reach 100 pts. and is now at 91 pts. Lexus wants to reach 400 pts. and is now at 365 pts. Now, we DON'T care if our kids read only the 25 points required per quarter at school or if they reach record breaking points. We DO care that our children are reading and developing a love of reading, no matter what form/genre it comes in. We DO care that they set their own personal goal and work towards it. We are sooooo proud of the girls for working towards their goal and getting pretty excited since both girls are so close to achieving it.

What We've Been Up To In 24 Pictures

 Stan was looking a little dusty, so Randy gave him his yearly cleaning. Definitely not a sight you see at everyone's house during spring cleaning...hee hee! Outdoor soccer has started and BRRR! was it chilly watching Kimberly play that first Saturday morning. Her team won their first game; let's hope it is the start to an amazing season for them.

 Ever since their cousin J donated his old Legos to our house, my kids have become obsessed with Legos and all the creative things they can build with them. I LOVE seeing the creative things they design!

 Austin found this egg carton in the recycling and pulled it out. He told me he wanted to make something with it with Grandma Grothaus the next day. Here is what they created...so cute! They also made the Easter basket decoration too.

 Lexus is reading the book series "The Guardians of GaHool" which the movie "The Legends of the Guardians" was based off of. She has become quite intrigued with all things owl, especially drawing them. The first pic is Lexus' and the second is Kimberly's picture of an owl.

 Last Friday, we went to cheer on the Cincinnati Cyclones in playoffs. They didn't win the game, but it was hands down a FABULOUS FAMILY NIGHT!!!

 We celebrated all of the spring Ossege birthdays last weekend (Austin is in this group). He was thrilled to get another garbage truck which he named "Stinky 2". He loves his new baseball set, we bought him bases from the $1.00 store so we can play real games in the backyard (hit with all 3 kids). I think the adults may have had more fun than the kids at this party dancing to "Just Dance 2" on the Wii.

 We braved the cool weather last Monday to visit the Zoo during our Spring Break. Apparently Monday mornings aren't popular; we kept running into the same 5-6 people all day.

 Poor Lexus! her soccer team has yet to play this season due to spring break and bad weather. While Kimberly has already played 2 games (pic of 2nd game below). Both of their soccer games were rained out today, I predict lots of week night make-up games in our future.

 One of the best things about soccer this season...soccer practice! I know that sounds weird, but not from my perspective since both girls have practice less than 5 mins. from our house...YEA!!! In fact, I only have to walk over one street to pic up Kimberly. She loves that she can ride her scooter home.

The girls' principal put on a show dressed as Elvis to get the kids pumped for CATS testing next week.

 We visited the Earth Fair at the top of our street today despite the rainy weather. We turned in old books and got to pick out new books to take home (great idea). Austin and Kimberly got their faces painted, we got a free tree for my mom, and bought a bag (1st grade service project) that says" Fort Thomas Recycles" below the HHS Bluebird.
