Pumpkin Walk 2010

We attended the annual Pumpkin Walk here in town last night and we were slightly disappointed. There were not as many pumpkins and it was bitter cold standing in line. Don't get me wrong, we did have a good time. We found pumpkins that we liked, loved, confused us, had us asking "how did they do that?", made us laugh, and we each found a personal favorite. While we waited in line, Austin must of fallen 100 times on the acorns all over the ground. Each time I cringed as he went down; praying for no broken arms or busted heads. I think we each took a tumble or two on them. The squirrels and deer must be loving the abundance of them. Click on the photo montage of our favorite pumpkins to see in larger view!




Poor Lexus! She broke her glasses yesterday and has been wearing her sports goggles to see. We ordered her a new pair yesterday, but they still take about a week to come in. Today, I helped celebrate Halloween in Kimberly's classroom. Each girl looked so cute (practically identical) dressed in sequined pumpkin shirts, jean skirts, black leggings, black sweaters,and black boots. Being Red Ribbon Week, they got to wear hats to school today - Lexus in a Reds cap and Kimberly in my white winter hat. Tonight, they had fun creating things out of junk found around the house and we took a fun trip to the library for some movies and new books. I LOVE the library!!! It is the best resource you have as a parent. Not only can you get FREE books, movies, & music, but they offer such cute, creative classes for FREE and our children's area is wonderfully stocked with computers, puzzles, trains, puppets, blocks, etc...

Can't have Halloween without Jack-O-Lanterns

Trip to doctor yesterday to confirm I have double ear infections, a throat infection (not strep) and a small sinus infection...and I haven't been around anyone sick/or not at all (soooo not fair) Poor Randy! He and I both haven't slept in 3 nights...me from excrutiating pain, him from me not sleeping. Thanks to my wonderful mother for taking Austin yesterday afternoon and picking up Kimberly. The kids were being cute like always last night dressing up; Lexus created Austin's doggie transformation.


Tonight, we made our Halloween Jack-O-Lanterns. Austin was so eager to help till he actually touched the inside of the pumpkin and yelled "YUCK!" He refused to help the rest of the time except hold pumpkin lids. He did play "Dr. Austin" to his bears after he was bored of watching us.

The girls were fantastic helpers scrapping out the guts and carving the smaller pumpkins. Randy is the official pumpkin carver at our house. He always does a fabulous job, but this year he out did himself! The complicated designs were not easy to carve, but 3 hours later (not joking) we had the best carved pumpkins to grace our home ever!

Pink and Yellow Combo

I almost finished my Thanksgiving cards today. They are taking me alot longer than expected. Guess I got a tad too ambitious on this card, but sooo worth it! (they look FABULOUS!!!) I won't even discuss the Bengals game yesterday (not worth my breath). Lexus ended her select soccer season with a win! Here is a cute pic of her team...


I have been in agony all day...my throat is killing me and my right ear has a lovely sharp pain shooting through it. It better not be strep throat! I keep praying it's just due to sinus drainage and is temporary. To get through my agony I made some more cards today, in between loads of laundry. I swear it multiplies when I'm not looking. I am still trying to use up all those supplies. Didn't realize it till after I took pics of them, but I have a pink and yellow theme going on.





Last but not least...a little bragging about Randy too. He won "Toyota's Greatest Fantasy Victory" in one of his fantasy footballl leasgues for Week 6. We are so proud!

Pumpkin Patch

After a quiet Friday night of catching up on some of the kids favorite Halloween shows, we went to the pumpkin patch today! We drove to Burger Farm, which we discovered a couple weeks ago on the way to Lexus' soccer game. What a fun afternoon we had watching the puppet show...

We didn't make it to the zoo; we ran out of time after the pumpkin patch and dinner. But had another quiet night at home which was just as wonderful :)

Collections

At some point in time everyone has had a collection of something...spoons, coins, rocks, etc... I have an extensive bell collection that my parents started for me and my husband has continued to build with his worldly travels. But my favorite new collection is SCARFS!!!

They are the perfect accessory as the weather takes a dip into the lower numbers on the thermometer. Being someone who is forever cold (even in the summer sometimes) scarfs seem to instantly warm my body when added to an outfit. Another bonus - they can add color to a lackluster wardrobe. You know what I mean if your closet contains 75% - 100% black/grey/brown clothes. I am soooo guilty of this for several reasons - 1. black always makes you look skinnier (duh! that's a no-brainer) 2. I am afraid of wearing a lot of colors unless they are in accessory form 3. Black/grey/brown go with EVERYTHING and look good on EVERYBODY, you can't screw it up. So I am taking "baby steps" to incorporate more color into my wardrobe and be more colorful. Scarfs allow me to do this; maybe next year I will try it with shirts/sweaters (or the year after that, like I said "baby steps"!) My newest favorite scarves are the ones below; I got the red one (original price $40) for $13 and I took the one of the mannequin (last one!).


P.S. We are now back to 3 chickens. Spice turned out to be a rooster (really loud one)plus a bully and took a trip to that big farm in the sky if you know what I mean. Peace and tranquility have once again returned to our chicken coop!

My Lil' Monster

Austin and I had a MONSTER of a time at the library this week! We listened to books about monsters, did the monster hokie pokie, and Austin made quiet a scary monster to hang on the front door.

Randy's surgery on his nose went well yesterday. The anesthesia made him really loopy; he kept insisting he was going to work yesterday...yeah right, he couldn't even remember he just asked me 7 times where his jacket was. Instead he went home straight to bed to sleep the effects off. He is back to work today. He has had a little bleeding and some pain, but that is normal and he is doing great!

Kimberly and her girl scout troop had a field trip to LaRosa's ysterday. They got a behind-the-scenes tour and to make their own pizza in the kitchen...yummy! I can't wait for this Saturday! We are going to Burger Farm to get our jack-o-lantern pumpkins and to the zoo for Hallzooween.
