Update - Carrie

Here is the latest update on my thyroid...Friday, Dr. H called to let me know that the ultrasound came back great and didn't show anything abnormal, but that my blood work showed that I was a little low on Thyroid (huh! the nurse forgot to mention that when I called last week to get the results!)So, Dr. H suggested putting me on a low-dose of Synthroid for 3 months, along with me eating healthier and exercising to lose some weight and make me feel better. Just like anyone else, I am not a fan of taking medicine everyday, but I will do whatever it takes to make me feel more normal and keep me healthy. I hope I am headed in the right direction, promise to keep you in the loop!

In other news, we had a rather low-key weekend at the old homestead. Randy is out of town till Tuesday, so the kids and I rented a bunch of movies, made christmas cookies, I worked on Austin's b-day invites, and just relaxed! I am gearing up for a busy week at school...I need to finish all the set decorations for Lexus' 3rd grade musical next week. Lexus will also be performing in her chorus fall concert this tuesday night. Will try to post pics Wednesday of her performance!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope you stuffed yourself full of delicious, homemade dishes and enjoyed the company of family and friends. We sure did! Here are some pics of Dad's b-day dinner. Don't the kids look so cute, they were playing board games.

Thanksgiving started with our yearly tradition of watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! I think I love watching it as much as the girls do. We headed to my Aunt Sue's this year to celebrate Thanksgiving with the Grothaus Family. Everyone was rockin' out with Rock Band on the Wii. Even my grandparents got in on the Wii action, testing their racing skills on MarioKart. They rock! Next, we celebrated again with the Ossege family at Mr. & Mrs. O's house. Try fitting 29 people around the same table! Actually we are up to 3 tables now and every year we can never get the right number of chairs or place settings...ha! ha! Some one is always missing a seat. As usual, it was a house full of excitement!

Kimberly celebrated her Thanksgiving Feast at Wise Owl on Monday. They sang some songs and ate a feast they helped prepare. Kimberly loved making the butter, she liked shaking the cream in the jar.

Santa House!

Santa House was this weekend at Moyer... our biggest and only fundraiser. In the past, we have raised close to $40,000. We traditionally go on Friday night, the first thing we always do is get the kids pic with Santa. Austin cried as expected, but the pic wasn't too bad. The girls got to finish their x-mas shopping for everyone at Santa's Shop. It's the cutest thing, the 5th graders take them in and help them shop and wrap their presents. This way they are a true suprise on x-mas morning to the recipient. They played games and made ornaments in kids craft corner, plus we visited the bakery, silent auction and adult boutique. We had a great time, sorry no pics of it, but I forgot the camera...oops! So, I took a pic of our pic with Santa, kinda fuzzy.

Saturday night, my friend Katie came over to visit and scrapbook. I finished a couple of pages for Austin's scrapbook. I also posted some cards I worked on last weekend using my "out on a limb" stamp set.

Here are some of the Art projects we are working on at Moyer...

Randy has been hunting all weekend on a new farm with Matt, this morning he got himself a button buck! We are also celebrating my dad's birthday tonight (b-day on Nov. 19th).

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

What a yucky, rainy weekend! Friday, Randy watched the Bluebirds win in the 1st round of playoffs. Saturday, while he was hunting in Cynthiana with Matt, the kids and I ventured out to run some errands and pick up Lexus' new specs. They look so cute on her! The first time she put them on, a smile spread across her face as she was able to see so many things she couldn't before. She told Randy in the car that things didn't look "dirty" anymore, she could see the outlines of the buildings and read signs. It's like a whole new world to her! What better thing to do on a rainy day, than make some cards. Despite the damper the rain put on the day, I was itching with ideas for some new cards to make. I tried to make some cards that had a colorful, cheerful look to them to combat the dingy colors happening outside. My favorite is the one with the colorful buttons on it.

Saturday night, Randy and I helped my friend Keri celebrate her 30th birthday! Happy 30th Birthday Keri!!! Actually, her b-day isn't till next month, but her husband threw her a suprise party...how sweet! We played this really fun game using famous people's names.

Today, I plan to make some new cards with my PTI stamp set "Out on a limb", should have some pics tomorrow. Gonna watch the Bengals play the Eagles, think two wins in a row is asking too much? Randy just called it's actually snowing in Pendelton Co.! Stay warm and dry!

Weekend Fun

What a weekend..Randy and Matt spent an extended weekend in Whitley County (near the KY/TN border) hunting up in the mountains. They didn't get any bucks, but did get to catch up with old friends. It's a yearly trip, they have been making for as long as I've known Randy. The kids and I spent Friday chillin' at home, Saturday we met Ann and the girls at the Levee for lunch and to see Madagascar 2. It was such a cute movie, I highly reccomend it. Sunday, we headed out to Scott and Dana's house for some card making and playing.
Hopefully, Lexus will be getting her glasses soon, she picked out a cute blue pair. I'll post a pic of her in her new specs when they arrive. I got the results for my blood test back and everything was good (my sugar, cholesterol, thyroid, etc...) So, now I am confused! Both my dentist and doctor told me that my thyroid was enlarged, yet blood work shows it's ok. That doesn't make sense to me. I am still going for the ultrasound on Nov. 26th, I will let you know what happens from that. Kimberly had watch week this past Tuesday, here are some pics of what she is doing.
We are busy little bees in the Art room at Moyer. Santa House portraits are finally done and we are starting new, exciting projects. Below is a collage the Kindergarteners are working on. In the next couple weeks, I will be posting the projects we are working on now.

Lexus - Eye Update

Lexus went to Children's Outpatient Center yesterday in Edgewood to have a full eye exam, since she failed the one at school. She was diagnosed as near-sighted and will be getting glasses tonight. She has 20/150 in one eye and 20/100 in the other eye. We were told it will progressively get worse until it settles in. She will need yearly eye exams from here on out. The doctor was suprised at how severe her eyes were considering neither Randy or I have glasses. They normally don't give kids glasses at this age unless it is severe enough...Lexus was. She has been having trouble seeing the smart board since the beginning ofthe school year. She can't even read the words on the TV from across the living room. She will not need to wear them all the time, only when she needs to see something far away. With her new glasses on, her vision will be 20/20. Still waiting to hear back from the doc for me, will keep you posted.
Happy Thursday!

Update

GO BENGALS!!!!! Wow! Did you see that game? Where has that team been all season? We won!!! They actually looked like they wanted to play hard....even Chad Johnson was on his best behavior. They better make an example out of the Jaguar's player, he crossed the line when he tried to blind our player. The was the worst sportsmanship we've seen in a long time.

Here are some costumes from Halloween pasts. To be a kid again and dress up as whatever you want...

We have some medical updates for Lexus, Austin, and me. Lexus goes to the eye doctor on Wednesday, we will let you know how it turns out. Austin is getting his 2nd tooth in on the bottom of his mouth. I had blood work done yesterday for an enlarged thyroid. I go the day before Thanksgiving to get a thyroid ultrasound done. I will let you know the results of both of these as soon as I get them. If confirmed, this would explain alot of the symptoms I have been experiencing lately...hair loss, skin problems, weight gain, and extreme tiredness(even w/ a full nights sleep). Again, if they confirm it, once I am on medicine everything should go back to normal and the doc said I will see a 180 in the way I feel. Randy and Kimberly are just dandy!

Happy Halloween!

We started Halloween early by attending the Pumpkin Walk at the Fort on Thursday night with part of the Ossege Family. There were some really creative pumpkins along the trail. Friday morning, we gave the kids their Halloween bags from Mom and Dad. Kimberly had a Halloween party at Wise Owl, she dressed up in her Tinkerbelle costume.

Trick or Treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat! Happy Halloween! Here are pics of our three goblins as they enjoyed Halloween. We went trick or treating with the neighbors and the girls had a blast sorting all the candy they acquired. Austin loved his 1st Halloween, everyone made a big fuss over him and how cute he looked in his dinosaur costume.
Below are some videos of Kimberly singing at her Halloween party and the kids trick-or-treating! Austin is making the cutest dinosaur noises (not crying) in the video.
