Christmas Party #1
Kimberly had her Christmas party at Wise Owl yesterday, she looked so pretty in her Christmas outfit singing songs with fellow classmates. She was so excited when a suprise guest stopped by...oh yes! you guess it! The big man himself...Santa Claus! She sat on his lap and told him she would really like some Polly Pocket buildings for Christmas. She enjoyed a delicious feast of chocolate, rice krispies, candy canes, and all other yummy things filled with sugar. It'a a miracle she went home and actually took a nap. Austin got in the Christmas spirit too, dressing up like Santa Claus.

Six years ago, Randy and I started the greatest journey of our lives with the simple words "I Do!" and sealed it with a kiss. It is such an awesome feeling to celebrate six years of marriage! I can't wait to someday be celebrating our 10th, 25th, 50th wedding anniversary together.
We celebrated our 6th anniversary on Saturday eating dinner at The Reserve at Newport on the Levee. It was delicious and we both loved the piano bar. We also got to do some Christmas shopping. Mom and Dad were gracious enough to babysit for us. They babysat for Scott and Dana too, so when we got home this is what we found...are they cute!
On Sunday, Kimberly danced at Madonna Manor (nursing home) with her class from Manyet. They wore Christmas dresses and were so adoreable! I posted a video at the end of this post. We also helped our in-laws put their x-mas tree in the stand and bring it in the house.

Christmas Movie Night!
Thursday night, I got to reunite with my friends Heather and Abby who I graduated with from NKU. Whlie, we ate dinner, we caught up on what everyone has been doing lately. Another reason, why I love this blog...even when you can only get together a couple times a year, you can still stay in touch and see what someone else is up to. Lexus got to go make Christmas cookies with Christy, she had a blast! Bonus...she brought some home to share with everyone! Yummy!
Friday night, the kids and I headed to my sil's house for a cousin Christmas movie night. They had so much fun! It was the perfect evening full of favorite cousins, hoagies, popcorn, and movies. Dress-ups were a huge hit with the girls, as you can see from the pics below. Randy came back in town last night too! We got a nice suprise...Randy was suppose to go out of town again on Saturday, but the trip was postponed indefinetly...yea! Highlands Bluebirds won the State finals in football last night, giving them back-to-back wins! This is actually their 18th state title in football.

An The North Pole Star Is...
Vixen! Vixen won the North Pole Star contest last night during the 3rd grade musical. Despite some technical difficulties the show was a sensation! It was probably one of the cutest shows I've seen since the Kindergarten Circus. Lexus was a star singer (chorus) in the show. She got to wear a light-up santa hat and t-shirt with the North Pole Star logo on it. The eight reindeer each came out an sang a song for the three judges (Mr. C, Mrs.C, and Cruelle), we even had Mr. Snowcrest as the host of the show. The audience was even given ballots to vote for their favorite reindeer.

O Christmas Tree!
Well, Randy & Matt both came home empty handed from the hunt, maybe next year will be better. Saturday night, we headed out to do some Christmas shopping for our nieces.
Sunday, we bundled up and headed out in the cold to cut down our Christmas tree with our in-laws. We always go to the same tree farm, where we spend 20-30 minutes looking for the perfect Christmas tree to grace our humble living room. This year, we found our tree really quickly. We always take a family pic in front of the tree before we cut it down. After we pay for the tree, we head down the road to this quaint little Christmas store full of homemade crafts. They always had hot coffee/cider and a tray of cookies/brownies to warm you up with. The tree on top of the car, reminded Randy and I of a Norman Rockwell picture.
After lunch and naps, Randy put the tree in the stand and we started to decorate the Christmas tree. Christmas music playing in the background...hot cocoa in cups...oranaments in hand ready to hang on the tree! Decorating the tree with my family is one of my top 2 favorite things to do at Christmas time. It's one of those moments where everything is perfect! We always let the girls decorate the bottom half of the tree with the non-breakable ornaments. My most cherished Christmas decoration is the Christmas tree skirt my grandmother, Dorothy G., made by hand. It is embroiderd with a sequin train and other Christmas decorations. In the engine of the train is a pic of my grandpa, in the 2 train cars of pics of my dad, aunts, and uncles as kids, and in the caboose is a pic of my grandma. I never got to meet her, she past away before I was born. But, I take great pride in displaying something she put a great deal of love into and preserving it for future generations to hand down.
We missed the Christmas walk in town, in lieu of putting up the tree. But, we weren't too sad, this was the only time to get the tree up with everyone home. Our schedule till Christmas is just chaos. Tonight, is Lexus' 3rd grade musical "North Pole Star"...think American Idol with Santa, Mrs. C, and eight reindeer. It is so cute! I also got to see the 5th grade show "Snow Biz" at Woodfill this morning. My nieces Lauren and Megan were in it, they did a wonderful job! Way to go Lauren & Megan! I will post pics of Lexus' show tomorrow. Here is a pic of Austin's birthday invite I made.

Jack Frost has arrived!
Lots of things have been happening with our family lately! I am getting ready to finish my stint as an Art teacher in the next two weeks. I posted some more projects below and the scenery I made for Lexus' 3rd grade musical. After Christmas break, I will start a new long-term sub as the AM/PM Kindergarten teacher at Moyer. I am really looking forward to this, it will be so much fun! This past Tuesday, Lexus had her Fall Chorus Concert. All the Show & Select Chorus members sang beautifully.
Last weekend, while I was making Austin's 1st Birthday invitations, I took this cute pic of the 3 kids playing Wii together. (Austin was just pretending to play, his controller was attached).
Wednesday, Randy & I put up Christmas lights in the rain. We decided to go with a simplified version this year, since we are so busy. Last night, we decorated the inside of our house for Christmas! St. Nick visited our house last night and brought goodies to all 3 kids! They were so excited last night, Kimberly even slept with her Santa hat on. Even better, when we looked outside we saw Jack frost working his magic transforming our street into a winter wonderland. Randy is hunting this morning on a military base down in KY. The minimum requirement to take a deer is a 15" spread on the antlers. Keep your fingers crossed, he gets a buck!
Tomorrow, we are going to cut down our Christmas tree, yes, we trek out in the woods and Randy actually cuts it down with a saw! It is a tradition for our family and Matt & Ann's family to go together to cut down our x-mas trees. I am extremely picky about my tree, it has to be perfect! (at least on 3 sides, the 4th side always goes against the wall). I am so excited, the best memories I have of growing up: putting up the x-mas tree with Mom and Steph and making sugar cookies form scratch, cutting them out with cookie cutters and decorating them. I have religiously kept these traditions going with my own kids. Ok, let's be honest here...Austin is a one-baby wrecking ball lately, getting into everything he can! We are taking bets on how quickly he gets a hold of the tree and breaks an ornament or worse pulls the whole tree down. This also means I have had to strategically place x-mas decorations around the house this year. Some people might say, put a baby gate up around the tree or don't decorate the parts he can reach...which would both look stupid! Others might say don't put any of the good ornaments on it in case he pulls it down, again...stupid idea! I will decorate it like we always do and if he breaks an ornament or pulls the tree down, so be it, that's what makes the best memories you talk about year after year...right!
