A couple weeks ago Randy spent the day at the Sequoia National Park in California. Randy's drive on the windy road through the park took him to see beautiful landscapes of rushing rapids, babbling brooks, wildflowers, snow covered mountain peaks, giant waterfalls, and the legendary General Sherman.
General Sherman stands 264 feet tall, doesn't look a day over 2, 300 years old, weighs 2.7 million pounds, boasts a 106 foot circumference, and limbs up to 8 feet in diameter. General Sherman is a sequoia and the world's LARGEST living tree.
Science Fact: Sequoias grow naturally only on the West Slope of California's Sierra Nevada mountain range.
Randy also discovered just how much snow can fall in the Sierra Nevada mountains, even in the month of March. For reference: Randy is 6' 4" and the snow is still a good 2 to 2 1/2 feet above his head.

Another day Randy and his co-worker Mike took a car tour of Bakersfield and some local attractions. They drove through the Mojave Desert, saw some Spaceship One, a railroad loop, airliner graveyard and the front gate of Edwards Air Force Base before security told them to scram; they weren't allowed in.
