1st Day of Kindergarten & 4th Grade

Last night's conversation with Kimberly

Mommy: Tomorrow, we will all walk you to your classroom and get settled in. I'll take pics of you at your table and with Kennedy & Sydney. Are you excited?

Kimberly: Mommy, can't you just drop me off at the big doors. I can climb the steps by myself.

Mommy (with a pouty lip): But, all the other mommies get to walk their kids' to the classroom.

Kimberly: Okay, you can walk with me tomorrow. But then will you drop me off at the big doors?

Mommy: Actually, I get to walk you in for the 1^st week, but then I promise to let you walk in without me. Then, Lexus will walk you down.

Kimberly: YEA!!!

Why does she have to be so independent??? At least Austin still needs me.

 

School is in session! Today was the first day of school for Lexus and Kimberly! Kimberly was so excited this morning as we got ready, she looked like such a big girl with her school bag on her back. Lexus was excited to catch up with old friends and meet her new teacher Mrs. L. They both were looking fabulous and fashionable as I took their pic on the porch and in front of the sign at school. We all walked Kimberly down to her classroom and helped her get settled in. She has several friendly faces in her class from preschool and the neighborhood. Wouldn't you know, just as we were getting ready to exit the building…WHOOSH! The skies let loose and the rain came down. Austin and I got soaked! We went home to bake Kimberly's b-day cake for tomorrow and dry out.

 

When we picked Kimberly up from Kindergarten, she shouted "I love Kindergarten!!!" She said they read and sang, played outside, got a class photo taken (she got to hold a sign) and other fun things. She went to music class today and she was "good as golden" (let's hope her behavior stays that way) I took the cutest pic of the 3 new Kindergarteners on our street: Kennedy, Kimberly, and Sydney. We came home ate lunch and Kimberly did her first official homework paper.

 

We were back at school at 3:00 p.m. to pick up Lexus. She was beaming from ear to ear, telling me her class was Mrs. L's best class on the 1^st day of school ever! She loves each of her teachers Mrs. L (homeroom), Mrs. H (math), and Mrs. C (science). She did have library today. She didn't have homework, but I did. The endless mountain of paperwork they send home so I can get writer's cramp applying my signature a hundred times.
